Mindfulness is not the same as relaxation. While mindfulness involves the practice of relaxation, it is so much more. Mindfulness is an ongoing process of bringing our mind and body into the present moment in order to experience whatever we are experiencing at that moment, without judgment or struggle. It involves calmly witnessing the whole of our experience, moment to moment, and engages us in deepening levels of compassion and acceptance. How do we find more peace within ourselves, our relationships our circumstances? How do we become more attuned to the messages our bodies give us? How do we learn self-regulation in the fast-paced world of technology and endless/intrusive demands on us? I work with clients to create a realistic and daily mindfulness practice that is meaningful and helpful.
STRESS MANAGEMENT AND SELF-REGULATION STRATEGIES
We are all bombarded daily by demands, distractions and overwhelming amounts of information. It is easy to become externally focused and very reactive. While it is normal to become "ramped up" at times, it is also vital that we have ways to "ramp down". Practicing tools that allow our nervous system to "pause and reset" to a calmer state of being is important to avoid cumulative stress and anxiety. I teach concrete, practical skills to neutralize stress and increase one's ability to self-regulate intense emotions. Individual and group sessions available.
